Okay, that analogy is way stupid. Especially since I just went out to my yard, cut off a big ol’ rose, and proceeded to count its petals whilst pulling them off one by one (is this the secret origin of the “loves me, loves me not” mantra?) There were at least 40. And you know, it still looked pretty good with 30. And 20. And even 10…
It’s far more important to be able to say to young girls, “Buck up, you’re a fine person, even if going to bed with him wasn’t the smartest choice, and you’re the wiser for the experience” than to put them into a mindframe that leaves them without personal value because they aren’t “pure”.
Be frank with your daughters (and sons!), give them the tools to avoid STDs and unplanned pregnancy, and they will value their bodies even more.
