Another Thing You Didn’t Know about Babies — OR — The Three C’s of Babyhood
September 20th, 2006

Overheard this afternoon, as I was holding my boys’ hands while they walked, like tightrope walkers, along a painted yellow “balance beam” curb outside their school.
Will: Mama, when are you going to lay another baby?
Me: Lay–? What, you mean, like an egg?
Will: Yeah.
Me: Well, honey, my body isn’t really strong enough to lay a baby. Why do you want one, anyway?
Will: Babies are cute.
Me: Yes, they are.
Will: And cuddly.
Me: That’s true.
Macky: And chewy.

Y’know, I’m starting to worry about Macky just a little bit… Dead chickens? Chewy babies?
Maybe he’s taking after his uncle. Remember how morbid Dan was as a kid?

You say potato, I say pohtahtoe . . .
We MacDonalds prefer the word “interesting.”
